Winter weather can wreak havoc on skin. My skin is especially sensitive so I’m quite picky when it comes to investing in quality products. When it’s especially cold outside (and it gets unbearably cold in my hometown of Boston), I make sure my skincare routine is packed with items that soothe and moisturize. If you’re battling a cold climate or simply looking to update your everyday beauty regime, then have a peek at my top five winter beauty essentials. Remember, you can shop the links!
Favorite Winter Beauty Essentials
1.Tatcha One Step Camellia Cleansing Oil. Hate that tight, dry sensation you get after using certain cleansers? Well, so do I. In the winter, when my skin feels particularly sensitive due to New England’s harsh weather, I rely on cleansing oils. Cleansing oils wash away impurities, remove makeup, and leave skin feeling moisturized. Tatcha’s cleanser is one of my favorites because it’s gentle and doesn’t contain mineral oil. When I crave a deep clean, I use the oil with my Clarisonic brush for a good scrub.
2. Josie Maran Pure Argan Oil. Again, I’m a big fan of beauty oils—and this one is divine. I squeeze a few drops onto my palms, rub the oil to warm it up a bit, and gently press my hands to my face. I usually let the oil set for a few minutes before applying makeup or another product over it. This winter beauty essential leaves my face feeling soft and boasting a beautiful natural glow.
3. Pro-X Age Repair Lotion by Olay with SPF 30. Just because winter brings with it short days and gray skies doesn’t mean you can skip the SPF. I always apply sunscreen if I’m heading outside. I like Olay’s Age Repair Lotion with SPF 30 because it’s light and easily seeps into the skin.
4. Peter Thomas Roth Retinol Fusion PM. I love this product for nighttime. It packs the power of retinol, which encourages skin renewal and lessens the appearance of lines. Vitamins C and E as well as a dose of moisture counteract the drying effects of retinol, making this pick one of my favorites for winter.
5. Algenist Firming and Lifting Eye Gel. I enjoy a quality eye cream, no matter the season. It took me a long time to find a product with beneficial ingredients and that didn’t irritate my skin. This particular gel is light and contains peptides and caffeine (among other ingredients), which work to strengthen skin and reduce puffiness.
