Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica
As you probably know from reading April’s note from the editor, The Sweet Seed went on vacation last month! Where? Dreamy Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica. Why? My sister-in-law’s very special wedding ceremony. I happen to adore destination weddings. There’s nothing quite like gathering friends and family for an intimate vacation in a faraway place and sharing a unique experience. Lasting memories guaranteed.

Manuel Antonio is an especially idyllic location for a wedding. This sweet spot in Costa Rica boasts a beautiful, picturesque mix of rain forest, mountain landscape, and pristine beaches. Famous for its National Park, which is one of the most bio-diverse parks in the world, the region attracts nature buffs, eco-tourists, and thrill-seekers alike.

In the spirit of sharing memories, here’s a brief recap of my adventure as well as few travel suggestions should you ever find yourself in this tropical paradise.

The Digs
We were fortunate enough to spend the week on an amazing property with an even more awe-inspiring view. Yes, the sunrise and sunset were marvelous to behold poolside. Manuel Antonio is full of lavish homes (fit for families and large groups) tucked away in a jungle setting. Prefer to travel solo? Eco-hotels and hostels are also plentiful.

The Wedding
Again, I’d like to emphasize how gorgeous of a location Manuel Antonio is for a wedding. We watched the bride ride in on horseback and recite her vows at sunset on the beach. The reception took place back at the house (because why would you have it anywhere else?) and the night ended with champagne in the pool. And how chic is this mint and gold color scheme? It’s a perfectly sweet palette for any beach celebration.

Things to Do

Sunset Catamaran Cruise
There are many activities like jet ski tours and paddle boarding available at the Marina Pez Vela in the nearby town of Quepos, Costa Rica. A catamaran tour is a unique way to truly take in the lush landscape. Go for a swim or snorkel in the ocean, sample some local cuisine, and sip on a sweet drink while admiring the sunset.

Deep-Sea Fishing
Another activity to enjoy at the Marina Pez Vela? Fishing charters. We ventured out for a full day of deep-sea fishing during our stay. Come face to face with stunning Sailfish and watch schools of dolphins swim and play near the boat. If you’re really lucky, you may even spot a whale!

Jungle Zip Line Tour
If you’re an adventurous type, explore the beauty of the jungle from a different angle. MidWorld Costa Rica offers zip line canopy tours guaranteed to satisfy a thrill-seeker’s need for adrenaline. Enjoy the spectacular views while zooming through the rain forest, try an ATV tour, or take a walk through the property’s hummingbird gardens.

Manuel Antonio National Park
As I’ve mentioned, Manuel Antonio is perhaps most well-known for its National Park. The diverse wildlife attracts tourists from all over the world. Take a guided a tour or hike solo to inspect the flora and fauna and to encounter exotic animals up close. You’re almost guaranteed to see two-toed sloths, toucans, iguanas, and an assortment of monkey species including the white-faced monkey, the howler monkey, and the endangered squirrel monkey. Follow the designated paths to a secluded waterfall or to the sprawling beaches. Snorkel, swim, or kayak to experience the tropical wildlife from the water. Alternatively, sip on fresh coconut water and enjoy the view while sunbathing.
