Summer is the ideal time to get playful with your beauty routine. Why? Well first, why not? Second, the season just begs for a bit of bold color.
My favorite way to inject some spice into my makeup regime is with a pink lip. Pink is classic. Plus, the summertime shade comes in thousands of different hues ranging from delicate to extreme. For example, fuchsia demands attention, but a ballet-slipper pink simply adds a touch of warmth to the face. As women, who knows what the day will call for. Better to have a variety at our disposal, right?
In case you’re looking to add to your arsenal of beauty products, here are a few of my favorite pink shades for summer:
Best Pink Lipsticks
1. Bite Beauty Luminous Lipstick, Fig. I was primarily intrigued by this lipstick because it claims to contain the super antioxidant resveratrol. Each tube supposedly has the same amount of resveratrol as found in five glasses of red wine. I figured if I drank a glass while wearing the lipstick, I’d better my health. This aside, Bite lipsticks are really moisture-rich and come in fantastic shades. Fig is a nude rose color and looks quite natural.
2. L’Oreal Colour Riche Lip Balm, Nourishing Nude. Drugstores house a trove of hidden beauty gems. Case in point: L’Oreal Lip Balms. This lipstick goes on semi-sheer and simply tints the lips with color while providing a healthy dose of moisture. Nourishing Nude is my go to shade of pink because it’s soft and delicate enough for everyday wear.
3. NARS Lipstick, Funny Face. If you’re searching for a way to introduce a jolt of happiness into an otherwise boring day, look no further than Funny Face. The name alone induces smiles. Bright, creamy, and semi-matte, I’ve loved this lipstick ever since the J.Crew catalog featured the shade on their models’ perfectly painted pouts. Plus, the hue is so boldly saturated that there’s no need for other summertime accessories.
Free tip: any lipstick color can be toned down a notch with concealer, so there’s no need to shy away from bold shades. Just dab a bit on your lips during application.
