Simple and Creative Gift Wrap DIY

The holidays are all about spending time with loved ones–but sometimes (just a bit), they’re also about the presents. Already shopped a great gift guide and settled on something special? Congratulations. You’re way ahead of me. However, perhaps you have yet to figure out the next piece of the puzzle: the gift wrapping. Presentation is everything, right?

I appreciate a pretty package wrapped in Kraft paper. There’s beauty in simplicity. This year though, I plan to “spruce” up the neutral material with a touch of greenery. Natural elements (like a sprig of pine, a leaf, or even a humble garden weed) add a breath of fresh air to festive decor. Don’t believe me? Take a peek at this little craft from the archives. Still unconvinced? Try this holiday gift wrap DIY.

This project is so easy, there’s really no need for lengthy instruction. Just top off your precious package wrapped in Kraft paper with a couple of tree trimmings. You can easily find these materials right outside your front door–the neighbors won’t notice a little snip missing from their bushes. To secure the earthy embellishments, stick a shimmering strip of glitter tape (like this kind here) over the stems. If you wish, finish with a piece of silk or cotton ribbon. I took the minimalist approach and chose to leave off the ribbon.

When in doubt, remember that natural elements and neutral tones pair well with metallic details and a pinch of glitter. Case in point: this simple gift wrap that proves good design isn’t always complicated. Plus, it saves a pretty penny, which (let’s be honest) is better spent on what’s inside.

Happy holidays!
